Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has expanded its partnership with existing franchisee Lone Star Custard.

Lone Star operates 24 restaurants throughout Texas, including locations in the San Antonio, Austin and Rio Grande Valley markets. Now, through an agreement announced June 6, it has acquired 18 existing stores and made plans to develop 20 new units—all in the Houston market.

Lone Star comprises three brothers: John, Nick and Joe DePinto, who started franchising with Freddy’s in 2022.

“We are immensely proud of the impressive growth and success the DePinto brothers have accomplished in the few short years since they began franchising with Freddy’s,” says Andrew Thengvall, chief development officer, in the release. “Their achievements underscore the strength of our franchise system. We’re excited to continue supporting Lone Star Custard as they bring Freddy’s signature quality and hospitality to even more communities across Texas.”

Freddy’s has over 530 restaurants in 36 states, with another 130-plus locations in development for 2024 and 2025.
