FAT Brands Concept Shares Canadian Growth Plans
The QSR chain also operates in Bahrain, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S.
FAT Brands’ new unit count in Canada is gearing up for a climb.
Marble Slab Creamery, in partnership with Canadian Ice Cream Company, expects to open 40 new franchised locations throughout Canada—the first of which will open this year. The rest of the locations will open over the next 10 years, and their addition will bring the ice cream chain’s unit count across the country to 140, according to a Feb. 12 announcement.
“Since entering the country nearly 20 years ago, Marble Slab Creamery has made a name for itself,” says Taylor Wiederhorn, chief development officer of FAT Brands. “Our homemade ice cream and unlimited mix-in philosophy resonate with fans and our franchisees as we continue to expand the concept across Canada and the world.”
FAT Brands also is the parent company of Pretzelmaker, which announced last October that it would open 25 new franchised units in Canada over the next decade.
FAT Brands—which also includes Round Table Pizza, Fatburger, Johnny Rockets, Fazoli’s, Twin Peaks, Great American Cookies, Smokey Bones, Hot Dog on a Stick, Buffalo’s Cafe & Express, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Elevation Burger, Native Grill & Wings, Yalla Mediterranean, and Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses—has over 2,300 units worldwide.
FAT Brands isn’t the only brand eyeing growth in Canada; Captain D’s, Jersey Mike’s and Jimmy John’s also recently shared expansion plans.
