The newly opened FSTC in Pleasanton, Calif., offers the ideal setting for learning about the latest equipment.

This September, Foodservice Equipment Reports, in partnership with the Frontier Energy Food Service Tech Center, will host the first-ever How To Spec Live. The event will deliver education sessions and equipment demos focused on how to specify certain equipment categories. It will take place at the newly opened FSTC in Pleasanton, Calif.

Foodservice professionals, including operators, design consultants and dealers, with equipment specification responsibilities are invited to attend. All professionals, whether new or seasoned, will come away with what to note when researching equipment. In 2026, the categories include combi ovens, high-speed ovens, fryers, ice machines, walk-ins and induction units.

“How To Spec serves as a live version of FER’s signature equipment comparisons, appearing in each magazine issue and online,” says Allison Rezendes, FER editor-in-chief. “Attendees will learn about the equipment benefits, latest technologies, spec tips, differences between manufacturers and mistakes to avoid. Plus, the FSTC provides the ideal setting for studying equipment.”

California Foodservice Instant Rebates serves as the presenting sponsor of How To Spec, taking place September 23-25, 2026. For details on attending, click here.
