Jack in the Box Highlights Growth Plans
The burger chain, along with its sister taco concept, are each on track for record-setting development.
Jack in the Box, having recently announced its Q4 and fiscal year 2023 financial results, has plentiful data to share.
For one, the brand signed a record-setting 123 new restaurant commitments in fiscal year 2023. Among those were entries into four new states: Arkansas, Florida, Montana and Wyoming. Jack in the Box also has committed to opening 22 units to enter Mexico.
“New markets are certainly a focus, but the outperformance of all new restaurants we saw in 2023, including those opened in current territories, is key to our overall growth potential,” states Tim Linderman, chief development officer, in a press release.
Company-owned Del Taco, meanwhile, has 138 new units on the books in FY 2023—also a record. Del Taco will make new market entries within two of the same states as Jack in the Box (Montana and Wyoming), and one where Jack in the Box already has a presence: Texas. Additionally, the brand has 52 commitments in Florida.
In August of this year, Del Taco opened its first drive-thru only Fresh Flex restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico; aspects of that same convenience-geared layout also were used in the chain’s recently-opened casino locations.
Currently, Jack in the Box has approximately 2,200 restaurants across 22 states, while Del Taco has approximately 600 restaurants across 16 states.
