Krystal’s SPB Hospitality Names G.J. Hart CEO

Hart joins the group after serving as CEO of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers.

SPB Hospitality, which includes brands such as Krystal and Logan’s Roadhouse, has named G.J. Hart as its chairman and CEO. Hart will replace Josh Kern, who will step down to take another role in the industry.

Hart most recently served as CEO of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers. He also has held CEO roles at Torchy’s Tacos, California Pizza Kitchen and Texas Roadhouse. Hart serves as an operating partner for Fortress Investment Group, majority owner of SPB Hospitality, and will continue to serve as chairman and CEO of Hart to Hart Global Advisors.

“G.J. is a proven leader with a deep understanding of the restaurant business and a strong track record of success. His experience and reputation will be important as we continue our work to position SPB Hospitality for continued growth,” says Morgan McClure, SPB Hospitality board member and managing director at Fortress, in the release.

Other brands under the SPB Hospitality umbrella, according to its website, include J. Alexander’s, Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill, Leo’s Italian Kitchen, Ember Smoked BBQ, Chef Jose Garces’ Amada, and Village Whiskey.
