As multiple restaurant brands, like Marble Slab Creamery and Captain D’s, announce growth plans for Canada, at least one company is making a move south.

Marco’s Pizza announced a 50-unit master franchise agreement marking its debut in Mexico City. Behind the development is Grupo Pizza Amantes SA de CV, which projects the first store to open in Q2 2024.

Marco’s currently operates 60-plus locations across the Bahamas and Puerto Rico with a master franchisee for the Caribbean. The company is expecting growth in the U.S. to continue and is now targeting international development in 2024, it says in a release. It has future sights set on the Middle East, Europe and Canada.

Tony Libardi, co-CEO and president of Marco’s Franchising, says in a statement, “Marco’s is currently undergoing some of our greatest expansion to date. We now have more than 180 stores in various stages of development, and hundreds of agreements signed.”

Based in Toledo, Ohio, Marco’s Pizza has over 1,200 stores in 34 states with locations in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.
