A community of restaurants have banded together to form one of NYC’s first green dining destinations. Situated in the Flatiron and Nomad neighborhoods, the destination aims to attract people from all over the world looking to dine green, says a release by the Green Restaurant Association.

Certified green restaurants in the destination include Shake Shack at Madison Square Park, as well as Barcade Chelsea, Honeybrains, Rezdora-Osteria Emiliana, Scarpetta, Hawksmoor, BLACKBARN, Tarallucci e Vino, INDAY All Day, PLANTA Queen NoMad, The Seville and SPIN New York.

Collectively, these restaurants are achieving the following:

  • Saving 354,077 kWh of energy annually, the equivalent of removing 52.8 passenger vehicles off the road each year
  • Saving 504,395 gallons of water every year, the equivalent of 46.3 backyard swimming pools worth of water
  • Diverting 969,465 pounds of waste from landfills per year through implementing recycling and composting programs, as well as additional waste reduction measures.

“NYC’s First Green Dining Destination in Flatiron & NoMad neighborhoods serves as a model to help the restaurant industry become more sustainable one neighborhood at a time,” says Michael Oshman, CEO and founder of the GRA.
