Subway has announced that Jonathan Fitzpatrick will join the company as CEO, effective July 28.

Fitzpatrick brings more than two decades of franchising and QSR experience. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Driven Brands where he led the team to 17 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth.

Previously, Fitzpatrick served in a range of senior leadership positions at Burger King, including executive vice president, chief brand and operations officer. In the role, Fitzpatrick led one of the largest menu overhauls in the brand’s history, simplified restaurant operations and reimagined the guest experience while modernizing the restaurant’s global image.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to shape the future of (Subway), working alongside our valued franchisees and employees to help drive increased sales and franchisee profitability and grow our brand around the world,” Fitzpatrick says in the release.

Fitzpatrick will work closely with Interim CEO Carrie Walsh to ensure a seamless transition. Walsh, Subway’s former president of Europe, Middle East and Africa, took over for John Chidsey, global CEO, who retired at the end of 2024.

Subway has nearly 37,000 restaurants around the world.
