TGI Fridays Inks Deals in India, Mexico

The brand continues to seek international opportunities, signing deals for 50 units in India and 50 restaurants in Mexico.

TGIFridays Expands in India, Mexico

Sugarloaf TGIF Management, manager of the TGI Fridays brand, has signed deals with USR Hospitality to develop 51 locations across India and with Mid-City Operadora Sapi de CV to add 50 units throughout Mexico.

In India, John Neitzel, TGI Fridays’ former president and COO, has joined USR to support the brand’s expansion across the market. “We are honored to be the Master Franchisee in India and look forward to working with John to grow the TGI Fridays brand across the country,” says Prasoon Mukherjee, chairman, USR, in the release.

In Mexico, Alvaro Traconis, CEO and founder of MCO Mexico, says, “As part of this Master Franchise, we plan to open a flagship Fridays in all 32 state capitals and major cities in Mexico. We also plan to develop restaurant training centers and build partnerships with new suppliers to deliver the good times and extraordinary flavors that characterize the brand to people across the country.”

Last month, Sugarloaf announced it had signed several deals to bring more TGI Fridays restaurants to Peru and Japan. The brand operates nearly 400 restaurants in close to 40 countries.

Popeyes also recently mentioned plans to expand in Mexico with the addition of more than 300 restaurants over the next 10 years.
