This week, Robert D. “Bob” Wright took the role of Wendy’s president and CEO. He also joined the company’s board of directors.

In the past, Wright has served as Wendy’s executive vice president and COO. Most recently, he was president and CEO, as well as a member of the board of directors, of Potbelly Corp. His career also includes leadership roles at Charleys Philly Steaks, Checkers Drive-In Restaurants and Domino’s Pizza.

Wright’s appointment concludes a search by the company’s board of directors. Ken Cook stepped up last summer as interim CEO. He will continue in his role as CFO.

“Following a thorough and comprehensive search, the Board is confident that Bob is the right leader to guide Wendy’s into its next chapter, and we are excited to welcome him back to the Wendy’s team,” says Chairman of the Board Art Winkleblack in the release. “He is a proven operator and brand builder with deep industry expertise and a results-driven approach that aligns with our strategic priorities.”
