In Memoriam: David J. Stafford, of Stafford-Smith

The second-generation leader of Stafford-Smith helped propel the dealership into stadiums and arenas across the country.

FEDA announced the passing of David J. Stafford, of Stafford-Smith, on Aug. 1. He was 83.

Stafford spent more than 40 years in the foodservice equipment and supplies industry. He was the second-generation leader of Stafford-Smith. He took over from his father, David D. Stafford, as owner and CEO in 1982 and helped grow the business into one of the top foodservice equipment and supplies dealerships. He stepped away from the dealership’s day to day business in the mid-2000s and was succeeded as CEO by his son, David M. Stafford.

Stafford is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Dave (Ronda) Stafford and Meaghan Stafford; grandchildren: David (Amanda) Stafford, Shelby Stafford, Drew Stafford, Katelyn Stafford; great-grandchildren: Adelyn and David; and siblings: Anne (Jim) Simmon.
