In Memoriam: Eric Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Shields, of Shields & Associates

Eric Jeffrey “Jeff” Shields, of Shields & Associates in Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away on June 18. He was 85 and had been battling with cancer, shares MAFSI in an Aug. 3 announcement.

Shields spent over 40 years in the industry. He was part of MAFSI for over 15 years, acting as a former MAFSI President (2001), board member and more. In 2004, he received the Michael Posternak Pacesetter Award.

“Jeff’s career took him and his family to Boston, New York, Dallas and Toledo, where they formed lasting friendships across the country,” writes MAFSI. “He eventually returned home to Winston-Salem to pursue his entrepreneurial dream, founding Shields & Associates and successfully leading the company until his retirement.

“Hard work, integrity, honesty, and fairness were at the heart of everything Jeff did. His genuine nature and steady character earned the respect and trust of colleagues, customers, friends, and family members alike.”

Shields is survived by his wife, Gayle Chandler Shields; his daughters, Shannon Shields Reeves and Mindy Shields Thompson (Travis); his son, Chad Shields (Kathy); his grandchildren, Mattie and Katie Reeves, Emily and Charlie Shields, and Brady, Braxton, and Boden Thompson; and his sisters, Carol Shields Brooks (Tom) and Dale Shields Hubbard (Tim).
