Sub Chain Cheba Hut Opening Soon in Virginia

Virginia is getting its first Cheba Hut, a toasted sub chain with local brews and more.

The unit, set for a Sept. 25 opening, is located at 1124 Steam Ave. in Midlothian. It boasts locally inspired artwork by muralist Joshua Finley, plus a 12-tap bar adjoining an outdoor patio.

The opening marks the eighth location for WAHi Brands, the franchise group behind Cheba Hut restaurants in New Mexico, Texas and Montana. WAHi Brands CEO Isaac Montoya worked for the brand starting in 2012 as a crew member, then general manager and eventually an equity partner at the Harvard store, New Mexico’s original Cheba Hut.

Looking ahead, Cheba Hut also plans to open a second Virginia unit, located in Colonial Heights, in the first quarter of 2027. The group also is set to make a Michigan debut in 2027, becoming the first Cheba Hut franchisee to operate across five different states.
