Mokas Coffee & Eatery Grows in Home State

Its newest opening, set for this month, marks a milestone in the 20-year-old brand’s growth.

Though this month's Olathe opening is the first franchise unit for Mokas Coffee, a nine-unit deal with Cornerstone Hospitality also was announced recently.

Salina, Kan.-based Mokas Coffee & Eatery is set to open its very first franchised unit on Sept. 30.

Owned by Christian Coleman, the 3,100-square-foot cafe in Olathe, Kan., is one of six that Coleman plans to open across Johnson, Douglas and Shawnee counties. It will offer roasted coffee, smoothies, freshly baked pastries, and made-to-order breakfast and lunch offerings.

Throughout the first month of operation, Mokas will partner with KidsTLC, donating 10% of all 16 oz. specialty drink sales to the local nonprofit.

The store is expected to create between 45 and 60 new jobs in Olathe.

The chain currently has five corporate-owned locations operating in Salina, Colby, three in Wichita, Kan, and 15 more under development in Wichita, Kansas City and other markets in Kansas.
