Four Manufacturers Win Energy Star Awards

Four foodservice equipment manufacturers have been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for their efforts toward reducing energy consumption in their products. The official announcements were issued by Hoshizaki America, ITW Food Equipment Group-North America, Manitowoc Foodservice and Scotsman Ice Systems as 2012 Energy Star Award winners.

ITW FEG and Manitowoc Foodservice have each earned the highest Energy Star honor, the award for Sustained Excellence, which recognizes their continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency.

It is the third year in a row that ITW FEG, an Energy Star partner since ’08, will be honored for its long-term leadership and continued efforts in helping to make foodservice and grocery operations more energy efficient, sustainable and profitable. The Troy, Ohio, company’s brands include Hobart, Traulsen, Stero, Vulcan, Wittco and Wolf.

Manitowoc Foodservice, an Energy Star partner since ’01, received the Sustained Excellence Award in recognition of its long-term leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency. The New Port Richey, Fla., company grew its portfolio of Energy Star qualified brands by more than 950 models in `11. Manitowoc received a Partner of the Year award last year.

Scotsman Ice Systems was named a 2012 Energy Star Partner of the Year-product manufacturer for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by making energy-efficient products and educating consumers about the products. Last year, Scotsman received the Award for Excellence in energy-efficient product design. The Vernon Hills, Ill., company offers more than 65 Energy Star-qualified ice machine models.

Hoshizaki America is an Excellence in Energy Star Promotion winner for its “outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by sponsoring significant consumer education efforts promoting energy-efficient products.” The Peachtree City, Ga., company has been an Energy Star partner since 2003.

The Energy Star winners will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on March 15, which marks the 20th anniversary of Energy Star.
