Denny’s To Roll Out 50 Units In China

It’s a grand slam of a different sort. Denny’s Corp., which already flies its flag in 10 countries, will be opening in China next year. In what it calls its largest-ever international agreement, the Spartanburg, S.C., chain has inked a deal with Great China Int’l. Group to develop 50 new restaurants in six southern provinces over the next 15 years. The group has exclusive rights to open units in Guangdong, Fujian, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Chongqing and Sichuan.

John Miller, Denny’s president and CEO, stated, “This agreement builds upon the success the company has had in expanding the brand internationally with recent franchise openings in Honduras, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. We are thrilled to begin our relationship in China with GCIG and are impressed with their expertise and resources. We believe that the Denny’s brand will continue to grow around the world and are focused on finding additional strong partners like GCIG as we continue our global expansion efforts.”

Denny’s currently operates 1,680 franchised, licensed and company-owned restaurants. GCIG, established in 1987, is a leading Chinese-based foreign-invested enterprise with diversified businesses, including real estate, commercial development, hotels and foodservice.
