Domino’s Marks 10,000th Unit Opening

Two landmarks for Domino’s Pizza: The chain opened its 10,000th store—in Kaligthane, Turkey. The Ann Arbor, Mich., chain has more than 250 stores in Turkey, all owned and operated by Fides, a private equity company.

A day earlier, the chain opened store no. 9,999 in Carlsbad, Calif. Both stores feature the new "Pizza Theater" design, which was introduced this summer in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. The exhibition-cooking design puts pizza-making on display at the front of the store and includes an open viewing area for customers, as well as in-store dining and kiosks for in-store ordering and tracking carryout orders.

The design concept also emphasizes Domino’s new single-tile brand logo. Domino’s has 10,000 franchised and company-owned stores in the U.S. and more than 70 international markets. Domino’s international store count eclipsed its U.S. store count earlier this year, and now also accounts for more than half of the chain’s nearly $7 billion annual global retail sales.
