Alsea Commits $85 Million To Open 30 P.F. Chang’s In Brazil

Mexican restaurant franchise operator Alsea SAB has acquired exclusive rights to develop P.F. Chang’s China Bistro in Brazil.

Alsea, which opened its first P.F. Chang’s in Mexico City in 2009, will spend more than $85 million to open 30 outlets in Brazil over the next decade. The first unit will open in Sao Paolo later this year. The company says Brazilians annually spend more than $60 billion eating out.

Alsea already operates 11 P.F. Chang’s and holds exclusive rights in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based P.F. Chang’s has more than 225 stores open in the U.S. and 20 stores in Canada, Chile, Kuwait, Lebanon, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

In December, Alsea inked a deal to control the Burger King brand in Mexico for the next two decades.
