Dairy Queen Opens Doors In 20th Country

Dairy Queen has opened a new store in Trinidad, making it the 20th country outside the U.S. and Canada with a DQ presence. Dairy Queen’s partner in Trinidad, Pelinja Holdings, is scheduled to open three new locations during the next couple of months.

“The Dairy Queen system saw tremendous growth internationally last year with 215 restaurants outside the U.S. and Canada, which included the opening of our 100th location in Mexico,” according to John Gainor, CEO of International Dairy Queen. Minneapolis-based IDQ is the parent company of American Dairy Queen Corp., which has more than 6,100 locations, including 1,109 outside the U.S. and Canada.
