McDonald’s To Debut In Vietnam

Yes, there are still a few countries where you can’t order a Big Mac or a Happy Meal. McDonald’s Corp. will check off Vietnam from that list sometime next year, adding it as the 38th Asian country in the company’s portfolio.

The Oak Brook, Ill., chain has named Henry Nguyen, a Vietnamese businessman and the founder of Good Day Hospitality, to serve as developmental licensee to build the McD’s brand there. Nguyen began as a crew member while a student in the U.S.Vietnam is one of more than 65 markets worldwide where the McDonald’s developmental licensee franchising structure has been deployed during the past 30 years.

McDonald’s first restaurant should open in Ho Chi Minh City in early 2014. The chain has more than 34,500 locations in more than 100 countries.
