TGI Fridays will have a new parent by the end of July. Carlson is selling the chain to Sentinel Capital Partners and TriArtisan Capital Partners. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Carlson, which acquired TGI Fridays in 1975 when it had just 12 units, plans to focus on its hotel and travel businesses.
The chain, with more than 900 restaurants in 60 countries and 2013 systemwide sales of $2.7 billion, will continue to be run by its management team, led by Pres./CEO Nick Shepherd.
Sentinel also owns Checkers/Rally’s; Huddle House; Newk’s Eatery; Falcon Holdings, the largest franchisee of Church’s Chicken restaurants; and Southern California Pizza Co., a 223-unit Pizza Hut franchisee operating in the greater Los Angeles market.
