NRA's RPI Posts First Gain In Three Months

The National Restaurant Association released its August Restaurant Performance Index report yesterday, just as we went to press.

Spurred by stronger same-store sales and customer traffic levels and a more optimistic outlook among restaurant operators, the RPI posted a solid gain for the month.

The overall index stood at 101.9 in August, up 1.0 percent from July and its first gain in three months. In addition, the RPI stood above 100 for the 18th consecutive month, which signifies expansion in the index of key industry indicators.

A complete analysis of the August RPI will be available on the fermag.com website later this week. To see the complete report, go to restaurant.org/research.
