Middleby Acquires Market Forge

The Middleby Corp. announced Jan. 7 that it has acquired the assets of Market Forge Industries, the 118-year-old manufacturer of steam cooking equipment, including countertop steamers, kettles and braising pans. Everett, Mass.-based Market Forge has annual revenues of approximately $15 million.

“The steam cooking category is a large and growing sector in the commercial foodservice industry. Through the acquisition of Market Forge, we add an industry-leading brand focused on steam cooking to our portfolio,” said Selim Bassoul, Middleby’s chairman/CEO. “We believe by leveraging the well-established Middleby global sales and distribution network we will realize significant sales opportunities in this category.”

Middleby acquired Automatic Bar Controls (Wunder-Bar) in December. The Elgin, Ill., company owns more than 33 foodservice equipment brands, 12 food-processing equipment brands and three residential kitchen brands.
