How Being An FER Top Dealer Helps You

As we note above, forms for this year’s Foodservice Equipment Reports Top Dealer survey will be sent out this week. While we e-mail the forms and reminders to many of you, we want to emphasize that any dealer can participate in the survey and be listed as a Top Dealer in FER’s annual Top Dealer Report in the June issue.

If you don’t see the form this week—it could be stuck in your spam filter—just click on this link fermag.com/media-library/research.html, download the form, complete it and get it back to Christine Palmer as directed. While in that section of our website, you can also remind yourself how we present the data by looking at the Top Dealer articles from past years.

In the FER listing, size does not matter. Since we began our annual Top Dealer Report in June 2011, we’ve had a number of dealers with sales volumes that would not make the cut in that other magazine’s annual “Giants” ranking. What is required, other than giving us your sales volume for 2013 and 2012 and detailing the services your dealership provides, is that you have the sales volumes verified by a certified public accountant (if you have one of staff, that’s fine) or other independent professional.

That verification is what makes our Top Dealer listing unique and valuable. The purpose of this annual survey all along has been to provide FER’s nearly 23,000 multiunit operator and consultant subscribers with a credible guide to the size, scope and service offerings of potential distribution partners in the U.S. These big buyers and specifiers get to see what your dealership has to offer. There are some other benefits of being an FER Top Dealer, too, such as discounted invites to FER’s Industry Awards event during The NAFEM Show and a nifty certificate. But the real reason to participate is that by doing so, you show existing and potential customers that you are a legitimate player in E&S distribution in America.

So I urge all of you, no matter your size or niche, to join the Top Dealer club (or re-join; you have to verify every year, please.) We look forward to including you. If you have any questions about the survey, the listings or how to verify, just e-mail me at rashton@fermag.com or call me at 800/986-9616. It will be great to hear from you.

Cheers,

Robin Ashton
