Sbarro Reboots Its Look

Sbarro is moving out of the mall. The Columbus, Ohio-based pizza chain, known for its more than 800 food-court locations, is opening the first of four freestanding, modern-looking restaurants in its hometown in October.

It’s the start of a major remodel and menu change at Sbarro. The concept will remodel existing locations to open up kitchens and shrink its menu to focus on core pizza and stromboli items. Also new will be carryout and delivery through online and app ordering.

Additional locations in California and New York are in development.

Sbarro branched out in 2013 with a fast-casual artisan pizza concept, Cucinova. It has two units in Columbus and Cincinnati.
