Talk about busy. McDonald’s invested nearly $1.2 billion in 2010 in remodeling some 1,800 systemwide restaurants, according to a third-quarter investors’ report. Preliminary sales results at refurbished restaurants are meeting or beating the company’s estimates of 6% to 7% incremental sales gains. In Europe, about 500 locations have been remodeled. McDonald’s expects to have opened about 1,000 new restaurants in 2010, including nearly 500 in Asia and about 150 in the United States.
