Three Service Agents Set for Industry Excellence Awards

Foodservice Equipment Reports magazine will honor three service agents in May during the NRA Show.

The magazine is presenting its Industry Service Award to Wayne Stoutner, CEO of Duffy’s-AIS, Rochester, N.Y. The 35-year industry veteran serves on CFESA’s board as treasurer and is one of the two CFESA installation trainers. Stoutner engineered the merger of three companies— Duffy’s Equipment Service, Appliance Installation & Service and Express Commercial Services—into one firm that can install and service equipment across all of upstate New York.

The magazine’s Management Excellence for a Service Agency goes to Hawkins Commercial Appliance Service, Englewood, Colo. G.M./V.P. of Operations John Schwindt will accept the honor for the 67-employee company. Schwindt, currently president of CFESA, hopes to create a CFESA Training University to benefit the entire industry. He also is working to create partnerships, bringing together leaders from CFESA, MAFSI, FEDA, NAFEM and FCSI to pool resources, ideas and talents to positively affect the future of the industry.

The Young Lion award goes to Dan Dibeler, president of K&D Factory Service, Harrisburg, Pa. His decision to leave Wall Street and join K&D led to a paradigm shift not only in the family business but in the industry’s service segment when he began tracking warranty costs with real data. He determined the need to bring labor rates for warranty work closer to market rates and shared his findings with members of CFESA.

The awards will be presented Sunday, May 19, at the Hyatt McCormick Place attached to the NRA Show venue from 5:15-7:15 p.m. More information and registration can be found here.
