Friendly’s Franchisee Acquires Brix Holdings

The franchisee and private investment group will scoop up a portfolio of 250-plus locations.

Friendly’s marked its 90th anniversary this month with a mini scoop collection and other offers.

Brix Holdings, which comprises Friendly’s Restaurants and six other brands, has a new owner in Legacy Brands Int’l. Amol Kohli, a Friendly’s franchisee since 2009, manages Legacy Brands.

Following the deal, Brix will stay headquartered in Dallas and keep its leadership team as well as its majority owner, Jamco. FriendlysExterior

Kohli will continue to manage his 30-plus Friendly’s locations, situated along the East Coast, and will now oversee Brix as chairman of the board, with support of Legacy Brands board members.

In his expanded role, Kohli will lead Brix on its continued mission to grow and support its portfolio of better-for-you, scalable brands, in addition to searching for brands to acquire, the release details.

Growing Friendly’s, a 90-year-old brand, will mark one priority; target markets include Georgia, the Carolinas and Texas. Overall, Brix, which has more than 250 locations, will continue to grow with several locations having opened so far this year and more coming by the end of the year.

Along with Friendly’s, Brix also includes Clean Juice, Orange Leaf, Red Mango, Smoothie Factory + Kitchen, Souper Salad and Humble Donut Co.
