Bob Don, who previously served as CEO and chairman of the board at Edward Don & Company, passed away on Oct. 20. He was 89.

Bob attended the University of Colorado Boulder and then served in the U.S. Army. He eventually earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1962. After a brief legal career, Don joined the family business, Edward Don & Company, where he rose through the ranks.
In an Oct. 22 release, Steve Don, CEO and president of Edward Don & Company, says, “My father and mentor entrusted me with the responsibility of running the family business as the third generation of the Don family. I am deeply saddened by his passing and profoundly grateful for his extraordinary guidance, vision and example. He was not only an icon in our industry but also a remarkable leader and person. His legacy will continue to guide how we lead, serve and care for our people and our customers every day.”
Bob served on the board of Jewish Children and Family Services and supported numerous charitable organizations. He was head of the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Wine & Food.
Bob is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his children, Abbe Don and Steve (Amy) Don; and his grandchildren, Payton and Harper Don.
