Longtime MAFSI member and former board member Ken Hamilton of Agences Hamilton Agencies passed away October 4 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 76.

Hamilton spent more than 50 years in the industry and three-plus years serving MAFSI, including as a member of the Communication & Member Outreach Committee. “He was a dedicated, tireless supporter of the association, the foodservice industry, and an amazing friend who will be greatly missed,” MAFSI says in the announcement.

Hamilton joined Quebec-based firm Agences Hamilton Agencies in 1969, eight years after his uncle Harold Hamilton started the agency. He bought the company in 1972. He married Irene McEntee in 1974 and the two had three daughters, Sandra, Cynthia and Lyanne. The girls joined him at one time or another in the business in their youth, with Sandra eventually rejoining the company full-time in 2010. Sandra took over the business in 2018 when Hamilton retired.

A celebration of Hamilton’s life will be planned later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering making a donation to Le Weekend pour combattre le cancer or the Lymphoma Society of Canada.
