The Vollrath Co. announced today the passing of former president and CEO Thomas “Tom” George Belot on Saturday, November 23. He was 74.
Belot joined Vollrath in 1978 as director of management systems and rose to lead the company, retiring as president and CEO in 2009. Vollrath says, throughout his tenure, Belot steered the company through significant challenges, championing investments in automation and technology that solidified its position for the future.
“Tom Belot was a visionary leader who deeply cared about Vollrath and its people,” says Erik Lampe, current president and CEO of Vollrath, in the release. “His contributions to our company and community have left an indelible mark, and his legacy will continue to guide us as we look to the future. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
Beyond his professional achievements, Belot had a commitment to community service. He was instrumental in creating a Business Healthcare Coalition in Sheboygan County that helped negotiate healthcare costs, impacting over 25% of the local population. He also held leadership roles in numerous nonprofit organizations.
Belot is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane, their children, Michael (Katie) Belot and Erin (Jeremy) Ott, and five grandchildren. Services will take place Friday at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Wis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Way of Sheboygan County.
