Michigan Dealership Creates, Awards Commemorative Scholarship
A 'passion for life and service' is key among recipients of the newly created honor.
Aldevra, a Kalamazoo-Mich.-based dealer, is supporting the younger generation with the creation of the Lorenzo Marshall Scholarship.
Jadyn Walker, a senior at Michigan’s Portage Northern High School, is the inaugural recipient of the new award, which was created by the dealer in honor of the late Lorenzo Donnell Marshall, brother of Aldevra owner Rodney Marshall.
Aldevra’s announcement says Lorenzo was a role model and standout athlete at Battle Creek Central High School (Class of 1989), where he excelled in track and field, setting numerous records. He also was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he and Rodney served together. Lorenzo also worked with youth as a coach and trainer, eventually founding Camp Marshall, where he specialized in strength and endurance conditioning for athletes and youth.
Walker exemplifies several qualities Lorenzo held dear, including athletic prowess, leadership and academic dedication, says Aldevra.
In collaboration with Kzoo Leaders, a nonprofit that aims to foster youth leadership, this scholarship aims to support and inspire students who embody Lorenzo’s commitment to excellence and community.
“This scholarship honors my brother’s memory and also invests in the bright future of young individuals who share his passion for life and service,” says Rodney Marshall, in a statement.
Aldevra ranked No. 44 on FER’s 2023 Top Dealers Report.
