American fast-casual restaurant chain Portillo’s is set to open its first-ever pickup and delivery only location in Joliet, Ill.

Following the lead of P.F. Chang’s To-Go and Lettuce Entertain You’s delivery-only concept, just two of the many restaurants that have launched delivery-only locations, Portillo’s announced it will open a Larkin Ave. and Route 30 location without an indoor dining room. Instead, the concept will feature a three-lane drive-thru. Customers also can order online or through Portillo’s app for pickup, catering or delivery.

The Joliet, Ill., pickup restaurant’s menu will include Portillo’s best-sellers including Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, burgers, fresh salads and chocolate cake.

Portillo’s has continuously shown its ability to evolve with the changing times. During last year’s Virtual NEXT New Equipment Expo and Trade Show, Portillo’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Off-Premise Dining Nick Scarpino told FER how Portillo’s uses its relationships with third-party delivery apps to meet customers where they are.
