Publisher’s Note: Summer Planning

Let FER take equipment research off your to-do list as you hopefully enjoy some much-deserved time off.

I hope your summer is off to a great start. Summer vacations might be in full swing, but the industry is busy as well with organizations like the School Nutrition Association and National Association of College & University Food Services holding their annual conferences. There is no better way to learn about and to support these segments than by being in attendance.

It’s odd, but summers seem to be shrinking. Years ago, the start of our K-12 school year or our driving of our kids back to college happened soon after Labor Day. Now, it’s often mid-August. That means noncommercial operators are planning and buying now, prior to the students’ return.

If you’re in need of a combi oven to refresh your program, look no further as they’re featured in this very issue, starting on Page 26. You’ll also find a door-type dishmachines article (Page 36), which is the perfect read if you need to revamp your warewashing area or are designing one from scratch.

Take some time to rest and relax this summer. Know that FER is here to help you take the guesswork out of the products you’re specifying, and hopefully allow you to breathe a little easier as you take some much-deserved time off.

Oh, and don’t forget the sunscreen!
