SPB Hospitality, the operator of concepts like Logan’s Roadhouse and Old Chicago, has promoted 25-year industry veteran Josh Kern to interim CEO.

Kern most recently served as president of concepts, overseeing marketing, culinary, beverage, supply chain and information technology. Before joining SPB Hospitality, he held leadership roles with other restaurant brands and companies like Quiznos, American Blue-Ribbon Holdings, Smashburger and Cerca Trova Restaurant Concepts.

“I’m honored to take the reins at such an exciting time for SPB Hospitality as we work together to build on our momentum,” says Kern in a press release. “In my 25 years in the restaurant industry, I’ve been fortunate to be part of many great brands, and I see that same greatness in the SPB Hospitality portfolio.”

After being promoted to interim CEO, Kern named Jessica Hagler CFO. Since April 2022, she has served in the role on an interim basis. Hagler previously was vice president, CFO and treasurer and secretary of J. Alexander’s until SPB Hospitality acquired it and its sister companies for $220 million in September 2021.

SPB Hospitality’s portfolio also includes Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, ChopHouse and Brewery, Big River Grille and Brewing Works, AIA Ale Works Restaurant and Taproom, Ragtime Tavern Seafood and Grill, Merus Grill, Redlands Grill, Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill and Seven Bridges Grille and Brewery.
