The success of the first Chipotle Mexican Grill off American shores has done well enough since it opened in London last May that the chain is planning to open a Paris outlet later this year.
The Denver chain should find it simpler to operate and source local product under its “Food with Integrity” philosophy due to the larger supply of naturally raised foods in Europe. Analysts estimate Chipotle could have more than 100 outlets in the EU’s major cities by the end of the decade. Nevertheless, Chipotle is moving into overseas markets slowly, and emphasizing growth in the U.S., where it has nearly 1,110 eateries. The company plans to open 135 to 145 eateries this year.
