NRA’s Performance Index Shows April Sales Up 0.4%

While some other researchers have reported slowing growth in restaurant same-store sales and traffic in April, the U.S. Commerce Department’s monthly data on retail sales had eating- and-drinking place sales rising another 0.4% in the preliminary estimate in April to $43.9 billion, after upwards revision to the March numbers. On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales are up a strong 8.6% from a year ago. For the first four months of 2012, combined sales are 8.3% ahead of the same four months last year.
