The Legacy Companies Acquires Kold-Draft

The Legacy Companies announced May 14 that it had completed the acquisition of controlling interest in Kold-Draft, the Erie, Pa., manufacturer of ice machines.

“The acquisition of Kold-Draft is an important day at our company,” said Neal Asbury, CEO of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., conglomerate. “Kold-Draft is a legacy brand name in ice machinery and this acquisition opens up new opportunities and supports our positioning as a leader in the commercial foodservice industry.”

Legacy’s brand portfolio already includes Blakeslee, Excalibur Food Dehydators, General, Greenfield WorldTrade, Maxximum, Omega Beverage Equipment, and Zeroll Smallwares. The new parent company says it plans to expand Kold-Draft’s product line domestically through The Legacy Companies and internationally through Greenfield WorldTrade.

Pat Black, president of Erie Management Group, stated “The opportunity to join forces with The Legacy Companies has made it possible to take Kold-Draft to a new level, while at the same time preserving a historic Erie business. We are very excited about the future of this new company.”
