In its second acquisition in six months, Food Management Partners announced this week that it has purchased the 25-unit Furr’s Fresh Buffet chain and its Dynamic Foods foodservice distribution company in a bankruptcy court transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In January, the privately held company acquired the 35-unit Don Pablo’s Tex-Mex casual-dining chain from Rita Restaurant Group.
Buffet Partners, the parent company to Furr’s and Dynamic Foods, filed for bankruptcy protection in January.
FMP said the Furr’s deal includes the Fresh Buffet and Family Dining brands, which operate in five states. Management functions for Furr’s will be absorbed into FMP’s San Antonio headquarters. In addition to Don Pablo’s, FMP franchises 35 Buffalo Wild Wings units in three states and owns and operates 21 Zio’s Italian Kitchen restaurants in six states. The Furr’s acquisition brings the number of units it owns to 115.
FMP, founded in 1999, was a founding franchisee of Smashburger. It has since sold its Smashburger units back to the company.
