Buca Bows In Boston

Planet Hollywood International will be expanding Buca di Beppo into the Boston area. The 83-unit casual-dining chain will open four restaurants in Dedham, Lexington, Seekonk and Shrewsbury this fall. According to David Crabtree, Planet Hollywood’s new president and CEO, the units will be conversions from former sister brand Vinny T’s.

"We have been looking for opportunities to expand Buca di Beppo into Massachusetts, and the timing is perfect," said Tom Avallone, Buca’s president and CEO. The chain was acquired by Planet Hollywood in September 2008. Crabtree took the reins as president and CEO at the Orlando, Fla.-based parent company earlier this month; Robert Earl remains chairman. Planet Hollywood also plans to expand its 12-unit Earl of Sandwich quick-service concept.
