Halton Acquires Current Energy

Halton, the Finland-based company specializing in air-flow management, fire safety and kitchen ventilation, has stepped up its presence in the energy-management business by acquiring Current Energy. The Dallas-based company offers energy-management monitoring to reduce electricity, water and gas usage through Web-based automation and controls technology. Current Energy partnered with Halton last year in developing the latter’s demand-controlled M.A.R.V.E.L. ventilation system, which received a Kitchen Innovations Award from the National Restaurant Association.

Most control systems today focus on big-box retail architecture, commented Rick Bagwell, president of Halton Group North America. “The acquisition of Current Energy allows Halton to focus on a core strength of small-box retail and further develop energy-efficient strategies for our customer base,” he added.

Jeff Hilbert, v.p.-national accounts, has been named manager of the energy management business.
