Leggett & Platt Reborn As SPG Int’l.

The Leggett & Platt Storage Products Group has new ownership and a new name. Now conducting business as a private entity under the name SPG International LLC, the company was purchased in September by its management team and Pegasus Capital Group.

Its brand portfolio includes Amco, ISS, Universal Stainless, Gillis/Jarke, Kelmax, Freestyle, LPI, and ARC. Transfer of ownership will be seamless, as the storage products operation will remain intact. "This is a great opportunity for everyone," says Steven E. Darnell, who remains as the president and CEO of the new company. "We see tremendous potential to integrate operations, create efficiencies, bring in new technologies, introduce new product/customer innovations and profitably grow the business.

"In the short term, this development will be transparent to our customers; our operations will continue with the same facilities, employees and suppliers," he added. SPG has manufacturing and distribution facilities in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois and Mexico.
