Entries Due June 15 For IHMRS’ Pioneering Concept Design Contest

Monday is the deadline for entries in this year’s Foodservice Pioneering Concept competition. Entries are due June 15 for the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show’s cutting-edge concept design contest; the winner will be spotlighted at the Nov. 8-10 show in New York.

Organizers of the Foodservice Pioneering Concept competition are looking for designers to conceive, create and rough design an edgy but revenue-generating foodservice concept that can open and operate in an underused, nontraditional location. These would include lobbies, courtyards, hallways, concourses or any high-traffic space not specifically outfitted to foodservice where access to water is limited and ventilation and gas connections are non-existent.

Concept designs must be scalable for construction on the IHMRS exhibit floor.

The winning concept will be built as a life-sized, working “set” on the show floor and utilized as a gathering place for food and equipment demonstrations and attendee networking. Entries should include a concept narrative and a four-color concept rendering as well as a floorplan, elevation, and equipment list.

IHMRS will pay the winner’s travel and hotel expenses to supervise installation of the project and to attend the show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. In addition to industry recognition, the concept will be featured in a future issue of Foodservice Equipment Reports.
