Freight Rate Update: Warewasher Proposal Is Withdrawn

Back in February, we reported on the classification upgrades under consideration by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association’s Commodity Classification Standards Board to change shipping rates for warewashers and air curtains and doors.

Now we can report that the CCSB’s proposed change on air curtains has been officially approved and the shipping class (and subsequent rates) is now based on length. No further action will be taken.

In addition, thanks to input from the industry, the big freight class change on dishwashing machines—which would send prices soaring—has been withdrawn at this time, pending future research. The current provisions will continue to apply.

FER Fortnightly, with help from Tim Walsh and the folks at ReTrans Freight, will update with further information.
