EPA Examines Pollution Problems With Transport Refrigeration Units

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will be hosting a series of public workshops to discuss ways to reduce air pollution from refrigeration units used to transport temperature- sensitive products, such as food and pharmaceuticals.

The California Restaurant Association is encouraging owners of Transportation Refrigeration Units (TRUs) and facilities in California where TRUs operate (e.g. grocery stores, distribution centers and warehouses) to participate in the workshops. CARB staff will use the workshops to seek input on reducing emissions related to stationary TRU operations and request feedback on the ideas and concepts presented.

The first workshop is Wednesday, April 13, 10 a.m.-Noon at the Cal EPA Sierra Hearing Room, 1001 I Street, in Sacramento. For further information about the workshop or the proposed regulations, contact Rodney Hill at 916/327.5636 or Rodney.hill@arb.ca.gov.
