Comments Due By June 2 On SNAP’s New List Of Substitutes

There’s a week left to comment on the Environmental Protection Agency’s still-evolving Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program. The agency issued a proposed rule in late March that will change or modify the status of several refrigerants. In addition to proposing to list propane as acceptable (subject to use conditions) as a refrigerant in new self-contained commercial ice machines, in new water coolers and in new very low-temp refrigeration equipment, the agency also is offering to exempt propane in these end-uses from the venting prohibition under the Clean Air Act.

Comments are due Thursday, June 2, at 11:59 p.m., ET.  For information about NAFEM’s response, contact Charlie Souhrada, CFSP, director-member services, at 312/821-0212 or at csouhrada@nafem.org.
