Hail To The Winners Of FER Industry Excellence Awards!

We hope you saw that we announced the dealer winners of Foodservice Equipment Reports’ biennial Industry Excellence Awards a couple weeks ago. (For a complete list of all 17 winners in all categories, see the article above.) I just want to add my congratulations to the winners. Clark Associates and Birmingham Restaurant Supply are the 2017 recipients of our Management Excellence Awards in the dealer category. Brad Wasserstrom of The Wasserstrom Co. was chosen to receive our Industry Service Award. And Drew O’Quinn of Thompson & Little is receiving our Young Lion Award.

I want to remind you that these companies and individuals aren’t the winners of a popularity contest. These awards have distinct and exacting criteria .They are chosen through a rigorous process of judging and consideration by our Management Excellence Award judging panel for dealers for the MEAs and by the board of directors at FEDA for the Industry Service and Young Lion Awards.

The criteria of the Management Excellence Awards include:

  • Honesty, transparency and integrity in dealing with employees, suppliers and customers.
  • Deeply knowledgeable management and personnel.
  • Consistency and excellence in execution.
  • Creativity and innovation.
  • A significant contribution to the industry.

Industry Service Awards recognize individuals who have made significant, career-long contributions to the equipment and supplies industry, not only in terms of their organizations and function, but across the channels and functions. Young Lion Awards recognize individuals under the age of 40 who have made a meaningful impact on the industry.

We want to thank FEDA’s board of directors and our MEA dealer judging panel for their help in choosing the winners. This year’s MEA panel included: Dennis Park, Vollrath; Mark Pumphret, Hatco; Gary Dykstra, Manitowoc Foodservice; Penny Hutner, Advance Tabco; Todd Griffith, Alto-Shaam; Greg Fischer, Cambro; Rich Packer, American Metal Craft; Mark Brenner, Eagle; Tom Donovan, Unified Brands; Pat Kill, True Mfg.; Jeff Duncan, American Panel; Michelle Wibel, Nemco Food Equipment; and Kevin Woods, Globe Food Equipment. We really appreciate eveyone’s help.

Finally, we hope you will all join us to honor these companies and individuals at the FER Industry Excellence Awards gala February 10, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando during the NAFEM Show. Information on the event can be found here on the FER website.

Cheers,

Robin Ashton
