Middleby Opens Bakery Innovation Center

The Middleby Bakery Group celebrated the grand opening of its $2.2 million Bakery Innovation Center at the company’s headquarters in Plano, Texas, in April. The 30,000 sq.ft. facility allows bakers to identify product processing techniques before investing in a new production line.

The opening ceremony featured keynote speakers David Gibbs, President of Yum! Brands; Marianne Kirkegaard, President/CEO of CSM Bakery Solutions; and Chuck Sonsteby, Chairman of Darden Restaurants, discussing the future of the restaurant industry from a global perspective and the value of an integrated supply chain to control costs.

According to Bakery Group President Mark Salman, “Middleby is the first major company to link industrial processing of bakery products to the retail store environment with complementary cooking and baking equipment which greatly streamlines the total equipment supply chain for all customers.
