NAFED GRANTS SCHOLARSHIPS, PREPARES FOR BIENNIAL WORKSHOP

Two college-bound students have joined the roster of scholarship recipients honored by the National Association of Food Equipment Dealers.

The top, $7,500 scholarship was awarded to Marc Calabro. His father, Anthony, works for BarBoy Products in Farmingdale, N.Y. Runner-up and winner of a $2,500 scholarship is Benjamin J. Hornung; member firm is Ft. Smith Restaurant Supply, Fort Smith, Ark. The Florence, S.C.-based group has been awarding scholarships to the children of its member-company employees since 2000. Company principals and their families are not eligible. NAFED employs a third-party service to administer the entire application and reward process for complete fairness and impartiality.

In conjunction with its fall board of directors meeting, NAFED will host its biennial workshop August 26-28 at the Hilton Orlando in Florida. The members-only workshop includes basic and advanced AutoQuotes training, and educational sessions with a select list of the group’s vendors. NAFED most recently held workshops in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C., and Dallas. It held its vendor/principal conference in April.
