GORDON CONSOLIDATES BUSINESSES IN WESTERN MICHIGAN

One of the nation’s biggest broadliners, Gordon Food Service, is investing more than $24 million to consolidate several of its business operations now spread throughout Canada into a new facility in western Michigan. Pending local and state approvals, the 100,000-sq.ft. facility will be located within Gordon’s world headquarters’ campus in Wyoming, Mich. It would create 173 new jobs over the next five years.

Gordon worked with a number of regional economic-development groups on the expansion plan. In a press release, company Pres. Jim Gordon said, “This project is not only an investment in the future of Gordon Food Service, it is an investment in the west Michigan community.”

Gordon, a family-owned business founded in 1897, had recently begun an organizational restructuring in Canada to streamline service for its customers there; those roles will be centralized in the new Michigan facility. The company distributes to operators throughout the Midwest and East Coast of the United States, and throughout all of Canada.
