The Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance has a new leader in Erika Cospy Carr.

A champion of diversity, equity and inclusion, Carr has nearly 20 years of experience across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. In her new role at MFHA, she will leverage her experience to ensure initiatives effectively address industry challenges and create tangible impact. She will help advance MFHA’s goals and reinforce its commitment to creating a more equitable industry for all.

“I have dedicated my career to building strong organizations that empower everyone to succeed,” says Carr in a press release. “As a space where people and experiences are key, the restaurant and hospitality industry plays a significant role in demonstrating the value of inclusive workplaces. It’s a true honor to guide MFHA’s visionary work going forward.”

Carr’s portfolio includes the role of founder and CEO of Cospy Concepts, a nonprofit focused on creating sustainable change for Black and Brown communities, where she led initiatives to help employers and others overcome barriers to building and sustaining healthy workplace partnerships. She also played a part in driving growth and expanding NABA Inc.’s (formerly the National Association of Black Accountants) influence. Additionally, she held the position of national affiliate and strategy director at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, where she led national initiatives to strengthen the organization’s outreach and impact.

“With a cross-sector perspective on the challenges and opportunities across the diversity and inclusion landscape, Erika is uniquely aware of the role that all backgrounds and viewpoints play in the fabric of a successful organization,” says National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation president Rob Gifford. “She shares our belief that diversity and inclusion are at the heart of restaurant and hospitality and will drive MFHA’s value and growth through new products and strategies in the years ahead.”

MFHA started in 1996 by Gerry Fernandez, who retired last year. The association serves as a resource for companies seeking to improve the depth and breadth of their diversity and inclusion initiatives through best practices, research, partnerships and expertise.
